An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill any vacancies, which may occur within a specific time period, from the date on which the Board approves the successful applicant.
Following the interview process, the Board would like to compile a list of substitute bus escorts for future vacancies and absences and applicants may be contacted after the recruitment process in order to complete Garda Vetting, should they be interested in this role.
Additional Information
Scoil na Croise Naofa, Mahon requires a bus escort to escort a pupil from Cork City Centre to and from the school each day by taxi.
Currently, this employment is 2 hours duration per day, Monday to Friday, on the days which the school is open (182 days in total) and in keeping with the school calendar.
The successful candidate must be able to work in the morning (1 hour) and in the afternoon (1 hour) to escort the pupil to and from school. Flexibility is required on half days etc. These hours are subject to change based on the needs of the pupils within the school to avail of the taxi service. The rate of pay is in line with the guideline set out by the DES, which is currently €15.20 per hour.
Start date: Monday 6th January 2025, subject to Garda Vetting. Only candidates that are shortlisted for interview will be contacted.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be responsible for assisting pupils into and out of the taxi;
• Ensure safety of all passengers when travelling;
• Be responsible for communicating with parents/guardians, the taxi driver and the school;
• Be sensitive and respectful in all communication and dealings with pupils, the school, parents/guardians and the taxi driver;
• Be enthusiastic, empathetic and respectful;
• Be in a position to meet the taxi in an agreed location;
• Available to work in keeping with the school calendar.
This appointment is subject to Garda Vetting. Canvassing will disqualify.
